Michelangelo’s David The Pride of Perfection

Arguably the world’s most famous sculpture, Michelangelo’s David touches a deep chord in all who lay eyes on it. Not only is it the culminating symbol of the Renaissance, it is also the climax of genius for the artist who created him. Hear the captivating narrative behind this statue of divine proportions from your personal art historian, after being granted direct Skip the Line access to the Accademia Gallery through pre-reserved tickets (included in price).

Sculpted between 1501 and 1504 from a nearly discarded monolith of Carrara marble, this stunning accomplishment would have never come to be had it never met with Michelangelo’s hammer and chisel. At the Accademia you will also get a chance to see the master’s hands at work on the partially finished “Slaves”, enigmatic visions of Michelangelo’s creative process as he sought to “free” the figures imprisoned inside the blocks.

The Heart of Florence Cradle of the Renaissance

Welcome to one of the most beautiful cities in the world, so much so that it has defined aesthetics across the globe. Hit the streets of this capital of the Renaissance with a passionate local expert guide to unlock its secrets. On this walking tour of Florence’s fascinating sights you’ll make stops to admire the city’s cathedral, Santa Maria del Fiore, topped with Brunelleschi’s gravity-defying dome, as well as visit Piazza della Signoria to hear tales of the Medici and the struggles for political power in the city, before crossing the most unique jeweler’s market you can imagine, Ponte Vecchio.

All along the way you will head to hidden corners of the piazzas and down alley-sized medieval streets to uncover the city’s magic. Whether it is the bronze doors of the baptistry that launched a new era in human expression, or the romantic meanderings of the Arno River as it passes under Ponte Vecchio, you’ll be left with an indelible image of this marvelous open-air museum to take with you forever.

Tours of Rome and Florence

We did tours of the Colosseum, the Vatican, and a walking tour of Florence. Our guides were
knowledgeable, entertaining, kind and considerate of us and other tour groups. If I ever travel to this
region again, I would definitely use What a Life Tours. They were fabulous!

Guide through Uffizi

Our guide was Stefano—he was amazing! Extremely knowledgeable and English was excellent. He pointed out small details that we wouldn’t have noticed, and he provided colorful background about Florence’s history, painters, and the paintings.
Great experience.

Great Tour Guide!

This tour allowed us to understand the progression of the gallery and why specific pieces were selected. Our guide was very knowledgeable and it was great to have a small group where we could ask questions and understand the art in more detail that just a basic audio tour or individual viewing.
