Michelangelo's David

Michelangelo began work on this 17ft-tall masterpiece in 1501, when he was just 26 years old. Completed in 1504, this ode to the sublime beauty of the human form and symbol of Florence's brazen independent spirit was placed in front of Palazzo Vecchio. It has been housed in the Accademia since 1873.

Florence Cathedral (Outside)

When Ghiberti's biblical scenes were revealed in 1452, they were recognized as a new style of art.

The 'Porcellino' Statue

Folklore is around every corner in Florence, especially at the Mercato Nuovo. High Speed Train with Private Tour of Florence - Exceeded Expectations!

Our family of 6 adults found ourselves with an extra day in Rome. We decided to venture north to Florence taking advantage of the high speed train. We didn’t have a lot of time to plan so went on line and found What a Life Tours. I am so glad we did! The tour I wanted wasn’t listed for the day we wanted so I emailed Joseph/Giuseppe directly. He worked with me to arrange everything! We got our train tickets for the times we wanted and it was very easy to figure out. Our guide was Elizabeth and she met us at our appointed place. We had her picture and phone number of anything had gone wrong - but it didn’t. The tour was excellent. A wonderful overview of the city all within easy walking distance. We visited all the sites and then some. Elizabeth is very knowledgeable and obviously loves the city! Her love of art history provided additional dimension to the discussion of the city. She recommended places to eat and visit during our free time. We all fell in love with the city and are so glad we found What a Life Tours!”
