Worth every penny

We are so glad we booked a private tour. Mario, the guide tailored the tour to what we desired. He was extremely knowledgeable, insightful, and quite simply a joy to be with. The four hour tour barely scratched the surface of all there is to see and behold. None the less any longer would have been tiresome dealing with crowds as they got larger throughout the tour. We like the tour so much that we booked an additional tour of the Coliseum.

Just brilliant

We were really looking forward to our tour of the Colosseum and Forum, but as luck would have it, it was blowing a gale and tipping down with rain when we met up with our guide who regretfully told us that due to the bad weather, the Colosseum was closed so our tour couldn't go ahead. He was very apologetic and offered us an upgraded tour to include exploring under the arena for two days later or a full refund. Of course we chose the former and kept our fingers crossed that the weather would behave.

Fortunately, the weather turned out to be perfect. We met up again with Marcello our guide and three other couples. One of the many plus points of choosing What a Life Tours is that there are never more than twelve in a group which means you never feel like just a number and there's lots more interaction between the group and chances to ask questions. The tour was amazing. Marcello our guide was just brilliant. Obviously passionate about his subject but never ever just spouting facts and figures. He engaged with us and was funny, friendly and a joy to listen to. The three and a half hours just flew by and we felt we had learnt so much in a fun and informative way.

Arriving back at our hotel it dawned on us that our planned trip to the Vatican the next day, which happened to be our last day couldn't go ahead as it was a national holiday and the Vatican was.closed. Fortunately, a quick chat on the very handy online chat facility meant we could quickly book another tour that afternoon with the delightful Fredrica. Like Marcello, her knowledge of the Vatican museums, the Sistene chapel and Saint Peters was second to none and for the second time that day we enjoyed the most amazing tour.

I would absolutely recommend What a Life Tours and am not surprised that they are rated the number one tour company in Rome.We can't wait to return to Rome soon and I'll definitely be booking their food tour.

Best Tour Guide in Rome

In all of Rome, there cannot be a better tour guide than Marcello. He is so knowledgeable and personable, it’s just amazing. We had a great time with him and he provided an outstanding level of humor and professionalism. I cannot recommend him enough.

What A Magical Experience!

I explained to our What A Life Tour coordinator, Pips, that we wanted to see Rome through the eyes of a Roman, and to not tell us in advance what we would be seeing. WOW...did she ever deliver on our request! She matched us up with our guide Beatrice, who turned out to be the best possible choice for us! Beatrice met us at the hotel, along with our driver, and off we went on our tour. We saw parts of Rome, I would never have thought to request. Places such as the exact spot where was Julius Caesar was murdered, the Jewish Ghetto, and such. We were fortunate enough to stop for a glass of wine, and Beatrice explained every day life in Rome, as well what living in Rome is like, compared to other places she had lived. There is one special place she took us near the end of the tour, that we will never forget, and was the highlight of the tour. Beatrice is a gem, and should be sought out for your What A Life Tour. I know we will be sure to ask for her when we return to Rome. You won't find this tour on their website, which made the experience extra special. Thank you Pips for all of your help in arranging this great experience. Thank you Beatrice for your kindness shown to us during our tour, and thank you What a Life Tours for providing us the opportunity to see Rome from a totally different prospective.

Our Evening Stroll in Rome With What A Life Tours

We recently had the pleasure of taking What A Life Tours Rome Evening Stroll Private Tour, and urge everyone to take this tour! Seeing the different sights lit up in the evening is magical. Marcello was our guide and led us around the city, explaining the history of the different areas as well as the significance of the areas in the making of Rome. Marcello was very careful to time our stroll correctly so we could gain access to the Pantheon before it closed. This was something we really wanted to see, and we are thankful to him that he was able to make it happen. Our gelato break was an added treat! Seeing the Trevi Fountain lit up at night, as well as visiting the Piazza Navona in the evening was enchanting. Thank you Pips for your help in arranging this wonderful tour, and thank you What A Life Tours for providing us with this great experience.

Two wonderful tours - “what a life!”

My husband and I took two tours with your company - Vatican Early Access one day and Colosseum Underground, Palatine Hill and the Roman Forum the next day. Both tours were led by Carlotta. She was extremely knowledgeable, kind, entertaining and funny. We really enjoyed our time with her. She offered to spend a little extra time in the Basilica of St. Peter at the end of our Vatican tour and my husband and I decided to stay. She got us closer to the Pope’s altar and shared with us some interesting information that we appreciated. She did not rush us. By the end of the tour I felt like we were old friends.

I would definitely recommend What a Life tours. Their service was professional, prompt and courteous. If we ever return to Rome, we’ll use them again.

Superb Tour Guide

Our 4 hour tour went by so fast. Even better than a private tour I took 12 years ago. Martina is a fabulous guide - knowledgeable, full of personality, professional, simply brilliant.
